An 8-minute walk from JR Otaru Station. The hotel has an impressive European-style exterior that blends in with the beautiful streetscape along the Otaru Canal. In addition to a variety of Twin including a canal twin room overlooking the canal, we offer spacious Guest rooms such as Deluxe Twin and deluxe double rooms.
The new Guest rooms and natural Hot springs baths opened in the new building on December 27, 2018. The natural Hot springs bath located on the top floor is the source name "Otaru Canal Hot Spring" Hot springs which gushes out in Shikinai, Otaru City.
Two food and beverage facilities were newly renovated and opened for business in February 2019.
Restaurant "Il Onai" offers Ezomae sushi made with traditional techniques from Hokkaido seafood, creative sushi to enjoy exploring new flavors, and bar-style bar with seared grilled beef and lamb as well as shrimp and shellfish, served by the glass with wine and new wave sake.
The café SONIA COFFEE is a specialty coffee shop that serves French press coffee. Patisseries such as Patisserie's original "Financier" and "Haskap Cake" are also available.

The main residence is located in the south building, the south building is located in the north building, and the facilities in the room are all open. Accommodation price: 5 minutes

The view was great because it was right next to the canal. The rooms were clean and the natural Hot springs on the top floor was smooth and refreshing!

There was a natural Hot springs and a restaurant, and the atmosphere was relaxing. The free parking lot was a little small, but the staff guided me so I was able to park without worry.

Even though it was past 9pm, they were very polite and the location was great, right along the canal, so it was easy to go shopping.

[250327~] I visited Hotel Sonia Otaru for the first time in about 25 years❗️ At that time, we didn't have any children yet, and it was a pre-wedding trip to Hokkaido with my current wife. This time, we used Otaru as our base, rented a car and went around the ski resorts. The hotel is modern and has a nice atmosphere. It somehow feels nostalgic. I don't think there was Hot springs at the inn back then. I'm just remembering it. Well, it's an old hotel, so the water area feels old-fashioned. But there is Hot springs, and it's near the canal, so it's a good base for sightseeing.
