Kitakyushu-shi, Fukuoka, is full of diverse attractions. Among them, Kokura Castle, about 40 minutes away by car, is the only castle in the prefecture with a castle tower, and attracts many tourists. Within the castle, there are many attractions, such as the Kokura Castle Garden, a cultural facility that recreates a feudal lord's garden and a samurai study from the Edo period, and the power spot Kokura Gion Yasaka Shrine, affectionately known as "Gion-san of Kokura." Don't miss the spectacular view from Sarakurayama, also about 40 minutes away by car. It takes about 10 minutes by cable car and slope car from the foot of the mountain to the observation deck at the top. The night view overlooking Kitakyushu's industrial area and the Kanmon Strait is amazing, and it is a representative spot that has been selected as one of the New Three Great Night Views of Japan.
If you want to enjoy the delicious Kitakyushu cuisine, we recommend the "Tanga Market", about 40 minutes by car. This is the "Kitakushizuoka kitchen" with about 120 stores selling fresh fish, vegetables, meat, dried goods, and fruit. In the warm atmosphere of a traditional shopping street, it is crowded with many people enjoying shopping.
